Dear Friends,
Please join me in supporting consumer awareness and advocacy about the current condition of our food supply.
This pledge is not to solicit money, or impart legislative action. There are organizations in place far better equipped for such tasks. It is simply to encourage education and underscore the power we have as educated consumers, and our ability to make things better through our own purchasing power.
Sadly, the food you and I thrived on as children has been drastically altered, with genetically modified salmon and cloned meats on the horizon.
While this is not news to many folks, there are many more who either don't know about the current conditions, or don't know where to seek reliable information.

Below are links to notable organizations supporting healthy food initiatives. I encourage you to take the pledge, read up, and share other helpful links and healthy consumer tips in the comments section below.
And when you shop, please vote with your purse everyday by choosing retailers and food manufacturers who hold themselves to high standards and bring you clean (free of GMOs, growth hormones, antibiotics), healthy, affordable food for you and your families.
The Discouraging Facts (These are the big 3; there are many, many more):
· GMOs, approved in 1996, are exposing people to genetically altered grains, leading to antibiotic resistance, immune-suppression, and cancer. These grains are now cross-pollinating with wild foliage, genetically altering our ecosystems forever.
· Growth Hormone rGBH, banned in Canada and Europe yet approved by the FDA in 1993 for use in milk, cheese, and yogurt, is now linked to the growth of cancers of the breast, prostate and colon.
· Filthy conditions and manure run-off from factory meat farms are leading to an increase in wide-scale breakouts of dangerous food-borne illnesses such as salmonella, and an increased resistance to new bacteria because of the abuse and overuse of antibiotics in food-producing farm animals.
The Pledge:
I believe the most powerful advocate for change is me, and therefore I will learn the realities of our current food supply, and choose local, sustainable, organic foods when possible.
I believe the pursuit of life as stated in the Declaration of Independence is an unalienable right, and therefore includes access to a healthy food supply.

I believe chemical giants Monsanto, Dupont, and others who are now controlling our amber waves of grain do not know what is best for growing bones and aging bodies.
I believe the North American local farmer is essential to our economy and a healthy way of life.
I believe all school children deserve a healthy lunch, free of additives, chemicals, and hormones.
I believe all people, regardless of economic income, deserve access to clean, affordable food.
I believe Nature knows best; why mess with it?
